May Christ Teach You What is Yours to Do!
June 17, 2011

“I have done what was mine to do,

May Christ teach you what is yours.”

St. Francis of Assisi

I love this quotation from St. Francis of Assisi.

It gives us so many things to think about in regards to living our lives for God.

Do you believe that God created you, yes, you, with a particular mission in mind.

He gave you just the right gifts and talents.

Just the right personality,

Just the right passions and desires.

To enable you to bring his presence to our world in a unique way.

St. Francis found and followed God’s path for his life.

He lives his life with great passion and holiness.

He changed the world.

You too are called to live life with passion and holiness.

You too are called to change the world.

What is it that Christ is asking you to do?

I would like to share with you a poem that Sr. Jacque wrote for our community this week:

Butterflies begin

not as lovely winged creatures

filled with eye catching color and graceful flight…..

butterflies begin

as simple eggs attached

to leaves for food, hatching

so it can eat and eat and eat!

butterflies begin again

as lovely little caterpillars

with stripes or patches

hinting at unseen glory to come.

butterflies begin…yet again

they eat and grow and molt their skin.

eat and grow and molt again

and again and again and again!

but is that all there is?

eating and growing and changing your skin?

certainly not! showing purpose,

butterflies know how to begin again!

butterflies turn inside out…ch

and form their skin into a pouch,

a chrysalis, wherein mystery unfolds

the secret of seeming death that holds…

Life anew in wondrous array

all is changed-the mold’s gone away-

transformed in tissue and organs and limb

detailed to delight and give glory to Him:

Our Father’s Gift and Wonderous Design

is genuinely this Butterfly soul of thine.

come forth, my sister, into Sunlight-

begin again with, perhaps, uncertain flight-

and Shine!

Whatever YOU want Lord!
June 4, 2011

“Whatever you want Lord!”

This must be the disposition of our hearts as we discern God’s will for our lives.
Whatever YOU want Lord.
Not, what I want.
Not, what my family wants.
Not, what my friends want.
Whatever YOU want Lord.
So many times, we know what we want.
If we are honest with ourselves in discernment we can look deep in our heart and say, this is what i want.
But, the test then becomes, but, what does God want.
God could want exactly what he want, afterall, he put the desires in our hearts.
But, do we allow room for God in our discernment?
Do we open our hearts to him?
Or Do we make our decision in isolation?
How do you invite God into your discernment process?
